Last Day in Lagos

Sunrise at Dona Anna beach

The day started with Amelie and I enjoying a sunrise on the Dona Anna beach, a couple of blocks from our hotel. This is a tiny little beach, set among the rugged cliffs of Lagos. Although tiny, it’s quite beautiful. It was a little chilly and Amelie kept warm by running stairs. I walked around trying to find the best angle for a photo. Once the sun came out, it warmed up pretty good. It was a beautiful sunrise.

We enjoyed a buffet breakfast once we returned to the hotel, then packed our backs and checked out. We left our bags with reception, then set out to return our rental car. Amelie celebrated that we returned it in one piece.

Our time in Lagos was winding down. We decided to walk around the town and check out other nearby beaches and cliffs. While checking out a secluded beach, we surprised an older man and his dog. He was enjoying the sun and the water — in his birthday suit. He put on some clothes soon after he saw us and then took off. Amelie couldn’t resist the call of the ocean and decided to take a dip.

On the way back to our hotel, we ran into a chatty woman from California. While exchanging pleasantries, we found out about a good spot to see interesting rock formations. It was only fifteen minutes away and it was well worth the detour. This would be our last sight in Lagos. We collected our bags from the hotel and walked over to the bus station. Tonight we’re back in Lisbon and flying back home tomorrow.
